Her interest in fiddling became apparent at an early age when she saw the Calgary Fiddlers performing at the Calgary Stampede. Soon after, she joined the Bow Valley Fiddlers which lead to becoming a member of The Calgary Fiddlers for five years. Throughout her years with The Calgary Fiddlers, Aleks toured extensively through England, Scotland, Ireland, South Korea as well as the United States and Canada, playing over 150 shows a year. With the Calgary Fiddlers, Aleksandra enjoyed performing in front of thousands of people as well as several dignitaries, high level diplomats and even national and international political leaders. Aleksandra’s experience with the Calgary Fiddlers lead to a love of performing and the violin itself and taught her the fundamentals of music performance.
Aleksandra has enjoyed working as a private violin instructor from a very young age and became an instructor for the Bow Valley and Calgary Fiddlers programs, giving back to the association that inspired her as a youth. Her devotion to the fiddle and the friendships formed in Calgary Fiddlers lead to becoming a member of Kinetic North which continued to let her perform with a group that has fun on stage as well learning many different styles of music.
In 2008, Aleksandra was asked to perform and tour with the acclaimed show “Lord of the Dance” as one of only two fiddlers as well as the only North American so far to be part of the the European troup. She toured with the original, longest running and most booked troupe traveling throughout Europe and the UK playing to sold out audiences nearly every night with rave reviews, including from the show’s creator: Michael Flatley and the Music Composer: Ronan Hardiman. Through her experience with Lord of the Dance, Aleks has taken her performance of music and choreography to new heights, meeting, playing with and forming lasting friendships with world class musicians and world champion Irish dancers from around the globe.
Recently Aleksandra has been involved with the Calgary Stampede’s “Grandstand Show” performing with artists from Cirque Du Soleil and around the world.
Aleks has been enjoying a return to teaching and spreading her love of music and is excited and enthusiastic about taking part in the Calgary Stampede Grand Stand Show along with other old friends she has met through the Calgary Fiddlers Association.
