Groups are a fantastic way to improve your skills and have fun while learning the violin! All the programs offered in the city help a student become more confident with their instrument providing concerts for a young performer around the city for sometimes hundreds of people. It is always advised that a student be in at least one extracurricular with their insturment while taking private lessons. Ask your teacher to learn more about performing or joining a group!
	The Calgary Fiddlers are a musically gifted group of young people who love to perform and who appeal to audiences of all ages around the world. This exciting ensemble performs a variety of music, ranging from traditional folk fiddling, to country, bluegrass, Celtic, and even big band. Each fiddler has a rigorous training schedule that includes private and group coaching sessions on a weekly basis in addition to performing at over 100 functions in and around the Calgary area each year and touring internationally. www.calgaryfiddlers.com
	Since the formation of The Bow Valley Fiddlers in 1991, this highly skilled group of amateur musicians, ranging from 7 to 18 years of age, has entertained hundreds of people in and around the Calgary area. The Bow Valley Fiddlers are a division of The Calgary Fiddlers Association, a non-profit organization whose mandate is the promotion and preservation of all forms of fiddling, with particular emphasis on Canadian styles. The association puts particular focus on achieving this goal by providing a performance format for young music students interested in the art of folk fiddling. This young group of fiddlers acts as understudies for the world renowned Calgary Fiddlers, and can perform up to 1 hour of music. Keyboard, mandolin, bodhran, flute and spoons are just a few of the instruments that accompany this fiddle group. The Bow Valleys, under the artistic direction of Donna Turk, also have a large Christmas repertoire, and have performed for events such as the Discover Devonian Series, the Southern AB Pioneers AGM, The Alberta Teachers Association Convention, The Hope Foundation, The City TV and many more. www.calgaryfiddlers.com

	The Orchestral Program at the Mount Royal Conservatory provides a quality ensemble experience for young string, wind, brass and percussion players from Calgary and surrounding area.
